Trans Britain

12 - 18 September 2009

Introduction
1

Starting in Scotland, finishing in Wales and taking in the best of what England has to offer this six day, six stage foot race is truly the first multi stage Ultra event for which "Britain" means something. The six marathon distance will take you through spectacular countryside as can be seen from some of the snaps below and is arranged by the experienced staff of "Go Beyond".

The aims are to 1) prepare for the challenge with purpose and clarity, 2) do the challenge: Get the results and enjoy it! and 3) Apply the lessons from the experience back into your life. It's tried, tested and refined by real people in the real world doing real stuff every day. So it's alive: you can feel it - and you can be a part of it. It's both a philosophy for life and a process to stretch: Because at Go Beyond we believe that we all have to stretch if we really want to grow.

The route
2

The route starts at Robert the Bruce's cave and then south to the foot of the Cumbria Mountains. Two stages in the mountains (who will be the King or Queen of them?) before taking on the Dales for two stages and finally (via the magic bus) to Wales for the final stage and an epic finish in an epic setting.

Go Beyond have taken care to ensure that the routes through the mountains will take your breath away but with a strong focus on safety abd will be supported in this by the local professionals.

The route through Ribble Valley and the Dales is stunning and topped off with the final leg to a (castle in Wales which is both the finish line and the venue for the celebration dinner.

Equipment

Accommodation in race villages, located in sites with showers and loos as well as decent food. Although you will be carrying your kit Go Beyond will replenish your drinks at each of our checkpoints and even provide some snacks, you carry only the food you choose to take.

The Goal

Go Beyond will take every possible care to ensure that this is an enjoyable experience and you arrive at the start line in the best possible shape each day BUT this is a tough race, the equivalent of 6 marathons in six days, climbing to 5 peaks in two days and 3 legs of Ultra distance - no shortage of bragging rights will be earned here. The goal is that you should remember this as an experience of a lifetime.

Charity Places

Go Beyond supports a charity set up (by one pf the Bo Beyond staff) to support the cost of secondary education for children from the Nairobi Slums. Through competing in Trans Britain 2009 you can also help the children in Kenya. Teach Africa has 25 places at £250 which can be yours if you pledge to raise more than £1000.

Go Beyond

Go Beyond is a team providing events for those that have run all the road marathons they ever want to do and are now looking for something that offers more variation and greater challenge while still retaining the competitive element. Go Beyond provides an Ultra race series to rival their road counter parts.

The team comprises of Coach and High Performance Mentor, Andy Mouncey, who ran, swum and cycled some 300 solo miles between London and Paris; Steve Adams, who has led global teams at major companies & startups and has run almost 30 marathons to raise money for charities including his own "Teach Africa"; Alan Rose of Just Racing, a company organising 5 running events and 7 triathlons every year; The experienced Marathon Des Sables finisher Mark Pinnock has over 10 ultras and 20 marathons under his belt.
